Sweet and tasty sugar alternatives
Refined sugar seems to be everywhere and in everything these days! We want to steer clear of the stuff but still want to enjoy something sweet every now and then! Here are a few of our favourite alternative ingredients for sugar…
- Cinnamon - it has a great taste and is great when added to oats or in a hot drink like hot chocolate. Cinnamon also keeps your blood sugar levels steady so that you tend to crave sugar less!
Honey - now a lot of people say that honey is just as bad as refined sugar but it is a natural sugar and when it is good quality and eaten in small quantities it is a perfect refined sugar alternative!
Xylitol - this is another natural sweetener that is great for baking and it's less calories and has good dental benefits too.
Coconut - coconut is awesome, we love coconut! Coconut oil, coconut milk, desiccated coconut and coconut water are all favourites for used in baking, cooking and even as a moisturiser! (Using coconut oil that is)
Dark chocolate - another favourite! It has to be 70% or more to be better for you than the refined sugar stuff!
